(Posted by: Eric Rees) So we're restarting the tradition of Thursday Funnies here at Gameshoe and with the upcoming release of Black and White, we decided that we'd do a Pokemon theme this week. Hi-Res can be found here. Enjoy.

(Posted by: Eric Rees) This has since been taken down so I had to nab this picture from another website that is near and dear to our hearts but it seems that even the mighty Keven Butler is mortal. That sequence of numbers and letters is the USB dongle ID generator key. Why is that important? People use it to hack PS3's. It's common knowledge at this point that the PS3 has some security issues but this is a pretty bold attack. Hopefully someone let Mr. Butler in on the joke, and also I hope that Sony won't subpoena this guy like they did to the last guy that hacked the system. Time will only tell. Sold? I thought so. Now none of this is concrete as of yet but this screenshot came from Wirefly with a bit of interesting evidence to support the claim. This is the first that anyone has heard as far as carriers go for the Play but if it plays out like it did in the UK, every single carrier will get a shot to sell you this phone when it comes around to actually coming out. Interesting stuff if you ask me, we've got a more in-depth look at the play here in case you didn't catch it the other day. Everybody start saving up money for your new cellphone! This week we've got a whopping six people on the podcast, including the long awaited return of Kyle Buck! We talk about Pokemon, The 3DS, Battlefield, and the new COD:BO Map Pack! Line up and wait your turn, everybody wants The Gameshoe Podcast! (Posted by: Eric Rees) Announcing possibly paid DLC before your game even comes out? Marvel vs. Capcom has a big enough reputation to do so, and still make you want to get it. Capcom posted on their blog the new battle mode called "Shadow Battle" which allows you to download packs that pit you against teams and characters modeled after specific teams and well known names in the fighting arena. The first pack will include the game's producer, Ryota Niitsuma and teams for the assistant producer and QA team leader. Each of the teams will be specifically coded for that person's techniques and preferences and Capcom promises that there will be more of these down the road. Just think, you could download packs from some of the top EVO fighters and practice for hours honing your fighting skills against these shadow fighters. This may be the first game I get this year and the only one for a while so I plan on spending tons of hours getting my ass handed to me in this game trying to get better. This is immensely exciting to anyone that is a fan of this game series. (Posted by: Chris Hayes) RIFT, an up-and-coming MMORPG from Trion Worlds, has just entered its sixth beta event, titled Planar War. Running from 10 AM PST on February 4th until the same time February 7th, the event allows players to level up to 35 and experience much of the game's release-available content. RIFT, for those unaware, is a fantasy MMORPG in the vein of spiritual predecessors Everquest and World of Warcraft. It's scheduled for release on March 1st in North America and March 4th in Europe. Initial pricing is set at $50 for a digital standard edition, and $60 for a collector's edition, each of which include a month of gametime free of charge. |
